Word of God Speak

Have you ever found yourself at a loss for words? Not because you were in awe, or in shock, but because you’ve been waiting so long and patiently for something? You’ve spent so much time asking “why?”, or “when will I get answers?” and finally realize you just need to stop worrying, regretting, looking back and just let yourself be at a loss for words. To stop, be still and wait.wpid-wp-1429041312478.jpeg

Word of God Speak-Mercy Me

“I’m finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is, it’s okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty

To be still and know
That You’re in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak…”

I found myself at a loss for words the other day as I heard these lyrics play out from my car radio. I had just been thinking about my training, how long I’ve been “on the comeback” from injury and still haven’t completely made it over that hump. But after listening to these words I could feel God speaking to me, reminding me to just stop and listen.

I believe only God can see the whole picture, his greater plans for our lives. But that’s only because his plans are actually more wonderful, powerful and incredible than we can imagine. Yet we rarely live our lives actually believing that. Instead, we choose to focus on the negatives, the past, the injuries–our own plans unfulfilled. Only when we stop, and surrender to the silence, walk straight into the storm with a heart full of faith can God wash our eyes to see the whole picture more clearly.

“I’m finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice…”

It’s funny, as I was thinking about all of this, I took my dog Koda, out for a walk. As usual he scurried about, nose to the trail and tail in the air. Then suddenly he just stopped. Not to sniff, not to listen to a distant bark; he just stopped and stared at me. If dogs could speak he would have been saying, “Ahh, this is the life, I’ll just stop and take it all in!” It was then that I realized that’s the biggest thing we miss in these moments of trial. We forget that God is in our midst in the good, the bad and even the mundane moments. We forget that all we really need to fulfill our longing is to be with him and listen for his voice…
